SuperShield

SuperShield, first developed and commercialized in 1992, is a unique fluoropolymer coating that is formulated to work with a variety of residential, commercial, industrial and marine applications. It is a high performance fluoroplymer resin that offers superior weathering ability plus the choice of ambient or high temperature curing. The coating is flexible, extremely hard and durable, extending the life and the appearance of surfaces for up to 20-30 years.

Our product is the best on the market surpassing acrylics, epoxies, polyurethanes and rubberized products.  We are backed by a 20 year warranty giving you confidence to you that our product performs as advertised. The coatings are environmentally safe or “Green “ with 0-VOC’s. They are non-toxic, non-leaching, inert, approved and tested by the USDA.  Our heat shield coating with reflective ceramic microspheres  provides a built-in thermal barrier against summer heat and winter cold, aiding in reducing heating and cooling costs.  Our coatings will not allow mold, mildew or moss to grow.  They prevent rusting, corrosion, staining and UV degradation that destroy your property.  Costly maintenance is reduced.

SuperShield 100: Our flagship product, SuperShield 100, containing 100% fluoropolymer resins provides up to a 50 year service life on a steel and metal surfaces. Our SuperShield is the best on the market surpassing acrylics, epoxies, polyurethanes and rubberized products.

SuperShield S is superhydrophobic and superoleophobic, with characteristic complex micro and nanoscopic surface which minimizes adhesion, dubbed the "Lotus Effect," referring to its high water repellence and the fact that it does not get wet. Incredibly self-cleaning with up to 30 year service life.

SuperShield S100 is also superhydrophobic and superoleophobic, with characteristic complex micro and nanoscopic surface which minimizes adhesion, dubbed the "Lotus Effect," referring to its high water repellence and the fact that it does not get wet. Custom formulated with 100% fluoropolymer resins,  SuperShield S100 is incredibly chemical-resistant, durable, self-cleaning, as well as anti-microbial, with up to 50 year service life. The ultimate  anti-fouling coating for ship hulls, oilfield rigs, heavy equipment, airplanes, bridges, etc.

Features of SuperShield

Excellent
Weatherability

SuperShield has good chemical stability as fluoropolymer and shows excellent weatherability compared to other traditional top coatings.

Soluble in many
common solvents

SuperShield polymer can be dissolved in various organic solvents.

Curable under room temperature

SuperShield gives you a choice of curing conditions from ambient to high temperatures. (5°C/41F to 230°C/446F)

Superior appearance

SuperShield is a transparent fluoro resin, therefore both clear and enamel coatings are possible. SuperShield also can attain gloss retention over 80%.

FEVE(Fluoroethylene-Alkyl Vinyl Ether)alternative copolymer

 SuperShield and PFEVE Structure

High durability of the fluoropolymer is based on its C-F bond energy. The C-F bond energy is much larger than the energy of UV rays in sunlight. The C-F bond is capable to strengthen neighbor C-C main chain bond.

*The graphics on the right: The adult and child figures show each monomer.

Fluoroethylene/vinyl ether copolymer (FEVE) comprises alternating sequence of fluoroethylene and several specific vinyl ether units and it is completely amorphous.
This alternating sequence is responsible for the extremely high weather resistance of the resultant paint finishes. The chemically stable fluoroethylene unit protects the neighbor vinyl ether unit, which can be easily attacked by UV rays and other corrosive factors.

The weatherability of PVdF itself is high; on the other hand, it is necessary to add acrylic resin in order to formulate PVdF into coatings.
Because acrylic resin is easily attacked by UV rays, the amount of acrylic resin added to PVdF resin is very important.

SuperShield will enhance and bring out the natural color of the substrate (material it is applied to) with a high gloss that makes it look wet. It enhances the natural colors and even brings back faded colors. It comes clear high gloss, semi-gloss, gloss, satin, and matte. It can be translucent tinted or solid colored. The factory will match your color sample.
